Terms & Conditions for GetStatus

Please read these Terms & Conditions ("Terms") before using GetStatus. By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. ABOUT THE APP
GetStatus is a free tool that needs no account and does its work on your own device. It helps you:
- view the WhatsApp statuses already stored on your device and copy the ones you choose into your phone's gallery;
- keep viewing statuses for up to 7 days after WhatsApp removes them, when the older-statuses feature is on; and
- keep the text of incoming WhatsApp messages, and recently received or sent photos and videos, for up to 7 days so they remain readable if the sender deletes them - an optional feature that does nothing until you grant notification access.
2. WHO MAY USE THE APP
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live, to use GetStatus. The app is not directed at children. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, you may only use the app with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. NOT AFFILIATED WITH WHATSAPP OR META
GetStatus is an independent app. It is not created by, endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of its respective owner and is used here only to describe what the app does.
4. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
The statuses and messages the app shows you were created and are owned by other people. You are responsible for how you use anything you keep, save or share. You agree to:
- only save and share content you have the right to use;
- get the creator's permission where it is required;
- respect other people's privacy and intellectual-property rights;
- not use recovered messages or media to harass, threaten, blackmail, impersonate, monitor or deceive anyone; and
- follow all laws that apply to you.
You must not use GetStatus for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose.
5. OLDER STATUSES AND MESSAGE RECOVERY
These two features keep copies on your own device so content stays available after WhatsApp removes it. Both are under your control: each can be switched off in the app, switching one off deletes the private copies it has kept, and everything is deleted automatically after 7 days. Photos and videos already saved into the "GetStatus/Recovered" folder in your gallery are your own files and remain until you delete them. Message recovery additionally does nothing at all unless you grant notification access in your device settings, and it only ever reads WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business notifications. Photos and videos that are confirmed to have been deleted are also copied into a "GetStatus/Recovered" folder in your gallery so they are not lost if you clear the app's data, as explained in the Privacy Policy; you can delete those copies at any time.
Because these features can retain other people's messages and media, you are responsible for using them lawfully. The rules about keeping, reading or sharing other people's communications differ from place to place, and in some countries doing so without that person's knowledge or consent is restricted or unlawful. You must satisfy yourself that your use is permitted where you live, and you must not use these features on someone else's phone or against their wishes.
6. CONTENT OWNERSHIP
GetStatus does not claim any ownership of the statuses, messages or media you view, keep or save. All rights in that content stay with the people who created it. The app only gives you a convenient way to access copies that already reached your own device.
7. PERMISSIONS
To work, the app needs access to WhatsApp's status folder, which you pick in Android's own folder picker, and permission to save your chosen copies into the GetStatus folders on your device. Recovering deleted photos and videos needs access to WhatsApp's media folder, picked the same way; the app does not use Android's "Photos and videos" permission. The optional WhatsApp cleaner uses that same folder access so it can delete the files you select; deleting them removes them from WhatsApp's chats too and cannot be undone, so it happens only after you confirm. Message recovery additionally needs notification access, which is optional and requested separately, with an explanation, before it is used. Every permission is used only for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy, and you can review or revoke any of them at any time in your device settings.
8. ADVERTISING
The app is free and is supported by advertising, served by Google AdMob: banner advertisements shown at the bottom of some screens, a full-screen advertisement shown over the launch screen while the app opens, a full-screen advertisement when you save something out of the video editor - a video, a split part, or an extracted audio track (never when you split a video, and never when you post one), and a full-screen advertisement when you add a sticker pack to WhatsApp from the sticker maker. To show ads, the app includes Google's advertising software and uses the Internet permission, and the ad provider collects a device advertising identifier and related technical data as described in the Privacy Policy. None of your statuses, saved files, recovered messages or other content you keep in the app is ever used for advertising or sent to the ad provider. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, and opt out of personalised ads, at any time in your device settings. If you subscribe to GetStatus Premium (section 9), no ads are shown while it is active. The app also reports anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics for Firebase, so we can see how many people use the app, which features they reach, and whether it is working properly. None of your statuses, saved files, recovered messages or other content is included in that; the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is collected and how to reset or stop it.
9. GETSTATUS PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION
The app offers one optional paid subscription, GetStatus Premium, available as a monthly or a yearly plan. While it is active it removes all advertising and unlocks the Premium features: the WhatsApp storage cleaner, exporting a recovered chat as a file, and making animated (GIF) stickers, which are then created without the "GetStatus" watermark. The price of each plan is shown in Google Play before you buy, and payment is taken by Google Play, not by us. We never receive your card, UPI or bank details.
The subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period - every month on the monthly plan, every year on the yearly plan - until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions; you keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for, and no further payments are taken. Cancelling does not by itself refund the current period - refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy, together with any rights your local consumer-protection law gives you.
The subscription is tied to the Google account you bought it with: reinstalling the app, or setting up a new phone with the same account, restores it automatically. If a payment fails, is refunded, or the subscription lapses, advertising returns and the Premium features lock again. Anything you already made stays yours: animated sticker packs you created keep working and can still be sent, and files you exported stay where you saved them. Saving statuses, recovering deleted messages and media, direct chat, the video editor and still sticker packs remain free for everyone. We may add features to Premium in future; a feature that is free when you start using it will not be moved into Premium without first updating these Terms.
10. NO WARRANTY
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that every status will be available, that saving will always succeed, or that the app will be free of errors or interruptions.
In particular, we do not guarantee that any message or media can be recovered. Recovery only works for content that reached your device as a notification or download while the feature was switched on, so it cannot recover anything from before you enabled it, from muted chats, or in other situations described in the app. WhatsApp can change how it stores statuses or how its notifications work at any time, which may reduce or stop what these features can do.
11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, including loss of saved data or content, content that could not be recovered, or any consequence of how you use content the app kept for you. You use GetStatus at your own discretion and risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. In particular, if you are a consumer, your statutory rights under the consumer-protection law of your country are not affected, and nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12. THIRD-PARTY APPS AND SERVICES
Actions such as opening the Play Store, sharing a file, or opening a status in another app hand you over to other apps and services that have their own terms. Once another app opens, you are using it under its own terms and privacy policy, and we are not responsible for those apps or services or for what they do with what you do there.
13. TERMINATION
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it, which deletes everything it has kept on your device. We may stop distributing or supporting the app, or discontinue any feature, at any time - for example if WhatsApp changes how it stores statuses. If you breach section 4 or section 5, your permission to use the app ends immediately.
14. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time; updated Terms arrive with app updates. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
15. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you are a consumer resident outside India, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence, or of your right to bring proceedings in your local courts where that law gives you that right.
16. SEVERABILITY AND ENTIRE AGREEMENT
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the app. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
